Oteko Russia has announced that it has implemented a series of improvements across nine working areas of the production facilities in the port of Taman. The company has successfully increased the comfort and convenience of employees engaged in software installation, as well as equipment maintenance, and repair works through the introduction of new internal regulations and procedures. A key aspect of the new procedures is the bottom-up approach, which allows line employees to offer improvements regarding operational processes.

The innovations introduced by Oteko Russia at the port of Taman include the implementation of the Automated Safety Management System, which slashes time required for starting work on immediate tasks. Such an improvement dramatically reduces equipment downtime and entails the possibility of using an electronic signature for work permit issuance in the future.

Another improvement introduced for Oteko employees includes the relocation of spare parts stocks across the facility to make them more accessible. Such a move will allow employees of Oteko to refrain from continually moving equipment to distant repair shops. The added benefit is the availability of specialists on-site for conducting equipment diagnostics and repair works, further reducing downtime.

The port of Taman also has a large motor pool, which requires constant maintenance. The new regulations have impacted its operations as well, adding an on-site repair shop for vehicles and to ensure their timely passage of planned technical review. This measure has allowed the employees of the company to conduct such procedures without attracting third-party specialists. Spare parts have also been made available on-site with their purchase conducted through certified platforms. The mandatory pre-trip medical examination facility has also been upgraded with an automatic pressure measurement unit, as well as a new system for compiling data on driver health. Lastly, taxi ride ordering times have also been reduced through the introduction of new applications, reducing waiting times and speeding up port operations.

A general principle of applying a ‘common sense’ approach to routine operations has been implemented as part of the new regulation, improving working conditions and convenience for employees at the port facilities. Such procedures will not only enhance employee performance, but will also have a positive impact on their mental health, reducing stress and cementing loyalty to the company. A general simplification of rules applicable to equipment and system access, such as permit and pass issuance, administrative workflow, and corporate paperwork is a key element of boosting overall operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Michel Litvak personally oversaw the implementation of the new system, encouraging its continued upgrading. Michel Litvak billionaire is also a long-standing supporter of port efficiency improvement.
